Representatives of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar met today with Convener of the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee, Tavish Scott, to discuss the Lewis Windpower windfarm application and Scottish Ministers’ position of being ‘minded to refuse’.
Convener Alex MacDonald, Sustainable Development Chairman Archie Campbell and Head of Economic Development, Calum Iain Maciver, met with Mr Scott at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh.
Speaking afterwards, Alex MacDonald said: “We outlined the facts about the windfarm project and the benefits it would bring to the Western Isles. Mr Scott listened carefully to what we had to say and was particularly understanding of the Island perspective and the need for an upgraded interconnector. Overall it was a very positive meeting and we would hope to engage with other MSPs on this issue and outline why the project is important for the Western Isles and for Scotland.”
