Pupils Speaking Up 19 March 2008

Three Western Isles Schools are taking part in a Speaking Competition on Wednesday 26th March in the Council Chambers, Stornoway at 2pm.

The Nicolson Institute, Sir E. Scott School and Sgoil Lionacleit are taking part in the European Parliament sponsored event which is aimed at novice speakers from S3.

Each team has been asked to choose a European Union Member state and to speak about one of the following themes:
Being a migrant in…, Being a member of a religious minority in …., Being a member of a minority community in…….

The competition is one of 10 heats across Scotland with the winners going on to the National Final in Edinburgh during the summer.

The prize for the Scottish winning team is an all expenses paid trip to Brussels in September to visit the European Parliament, the European Commission and The European School.
