At yesterday’s meeting of the OHCPP, the Fairer Scotland Fund (FSF) which replaces a number of current programmes and funding streams which are received by Community Planning Partners in the Outer Hebrides, was discussed in detail. The Comhairle will receive £589k in 2008/9, £545k in 2009/10 and £500k in 2010/11 from the FSF on behalf of the OHCPP. The allocation is currently ringfenced but it is envisaged that the ringfencing will be removed in 2010/11 as Single Outcome Agreements are agreed and confirmed with the Scottish Government.
The Scottish Government guidelines for the FSF for the Outer Hebrides will focus on three main areas –
- Regenerating the most disadvantaged communities;
- Improving the life chances of individuals and groups experiencing poverty and disadvantage; and
- Improving employability, particularly for young people and other hard to reach groups.
The Fairer Scotland Fund is now seeking bids on behalf of OHCPP. Derek McKim, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s External Policy Head said –
“The bidding process requires funding bids to be submitted by Friday 16 May at the latest and if possible bids should be submitted in advance of that date to allow additional information to be obtained, if required. Bids should be submitted via the Chief Executive’s Office of the Comhairle.
