Trading Standards Officers at the Comhairle are thanking members of the public for their prompt action in reporting door to door salesmen who were operating in Lewis earlier today.
The unlicensed sellers were stopped by Police and Trading Standards staff within an hour of reaching Lewis this morning.
The Western Isles are now a designated 'no cold calling zone' where householders can display door stickers to ensure they are not pestered by unwanted doorstep sellers.
There are is also a 24 hour contact number manned by staff at Faire, the Community Careline, were residents can phone to report any suspicious sellers - 01851 701702.
Many of the rogue traders whom Trading Standards have received complaints about have been aggresive and have used intimidating sales techniques in order to sell goods or services.
It is understood that the sellers have now returned to the mainland.
