Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is welcoming over 100 delegates to the National Gaelic Conference at Breasclete Community Hall on Lewis today.
The twin themes of the conference focus on Gaelic community initiatives and the role of young people in energising the language.
The keynote speech will be delivered by the Minister for Gaelic, Linda Fabiani.
Cllr Agnes Rennie, Chair of the Comhairle’s Gaelic Committee, said:
“The Comhairle is pleased to be involved with Bòrd na Gàidhlig in organising this milestone conference for the Gaelic community. Co-operation amongst Gaelic bodies and organisations and joined up thinking is essential if Gaelic is to thrive and prosper in the years ahead. I am delighted that the Minister for Gaelic, Linda Fabiani, is going to address the conference as the continuing support of the Scottish Government is vital in the effort to revitalise the language”.
