Trading Standards Officers are warning consumers to be aware of a cold calling scam which is currently operating in the Western Isles.

Complaints have been received about telephone calls which are claiming to be from Lloyds, TSB and HBOS asking for personal details and bank account numbers.

The advice from Trading Standards is to never give out such details either on the phone or on e-mail, and to be aware that reputable companies will not contact you in this manner
