Handy Work For Island Schools

3 new posts are to be created with the establishment of a handyperson service for dealing with small scale repairs and maintenance tasks for schools in the Western Isles, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Education Committee agreed today.

It was agreed to set up the scheme to improve response times for requests to deal with small scale repair and maintenance work.

Cllr. Norman L. Macdonald, Chairman of Education, said: “This will provide an improved service for schools throughout the Western Isles and will also provide employment opportunities.”

A report will now go to the Policy and Committee for approval and if agreed, the new service will come into operation as from August this year.
