Welcome For Schools Cash

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Chairman of Education, Norman L Macdonald, has welcomed the additional allocation of £237,000 for school buildings improvements in the Western Isles.

Responding to the announcement from the Education Minister, Cathy Jamieson, Mr. Macdonald said: “We have been making the case to the Scottish Executive for improved funding for school buildings and are looking at the best way to provide the facilities that our schoolchildren deserve. The Comhairle will be making a bid under the PPP scheme in September of this year.

In the meantime this additional money through the School Buildings Improvement Fund is welcome and the Comhairle will consider the most cost effective means of using this money.”
