The Comhairle is holding its fourth annual Housing Conference on 21 and 22 November at Lews Castle College in Stornoway. The Conference will discuss the recent changes in Housing legislation, promote housing issues and encourage debate on good housing.

Guest speakers include Lesley Baird, the Director of the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (Scotland) and Dave Alexander, Depute Director of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations.

Tenants and Councillors from across the Western Isles will be discussing progress on the Comhairle’s Housing Stock Transfer proposals and hearing from the Scottish Borders Council, where the tenants have voted in favour of changing ownership of the council houses to a Housing Association.

Speakers will also be talking on the new Tenant Participation strategy, the Comhairle’s Rent Setting process for the next year, new Homeless legislation and the Scottish Secure Tenancy
