| Fresh Political Chapter Opens In The Western Isles |

A fresh political chapter opened today in the Western Isles as the new Comhairle gathered together for the Members’ declaration of acceptance of Office at the Council Buildings in Stornoway. Members started an induction programme with presentations from the Chief Executive and the Director of Finance. Other events over the next week will include briefings on the Departments of the Comhairle, a session on Renewable Energy and a background on the Islands’ population and economy. The first meeting of the new Comhairle will take place on the morning of 20th May, when members will elect a Convener and Vice-Convener. The first full cycle of Committees will take place in the first week of June followed by the full Comhairle in the second week of June Ends Nigel Scott
