Comhairle Elects Convener and Vice-Convener

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar today unanimously elected Mr. Alex MacDonald as Convener for a second term of office. Mr. Angus Campbell was elected as Vice-Convener after a ballot involving two others, Mr. Norman A. Macdonald and Mr. Norman L Macdonald.

In the first round of the ballot, Mr. Campbell secured 14 votes, Mr Norman A. Macdonald 13 and Mr. Norman L Macdonald 4. In the second round Mr. Campbell got 17 votes while Norman A Macdonald won 14.

Committee Chairman and Vice-Chairmen were also elected today. They are as follows:

Arts and Leisure:

Iain Morrison - Vice-Chairman

Housing :
Norman M Macleod - Chairman
George Lonie - Vice-Chair

Education and Children’s Services:
Norman L Macdonald - Chairman
Morag Munro - Vice-Chairman

Environmental Services:
Angus Nicolson - Chairman
Ian M macleod - Vice-Chairman

Transportation:
Donald Manford - Chairman
Ronald J Mackinnon - Vice-Chairman

Sustainable Development:
Archie Campbell - Chairman
Annie Macdonald - Vice-Chairman

Social Work:
Murdo Macleod - Chairman
Roddy Morrison - Vice-Chairman
