The Comhairle’s Trading Standards Section are warning about a scam regarding companies who write to advise businesses of the need to obtain the new style accident book. These companies suggest that other materials are also required, the total cost being well over £100 plus VAT. The Information Commissioner, whose role it is to enforce the Data Protection Act 1998, has ruled that businesses must change over to the new style accident book by 31.12.03. The new book allows for accidents to be recorded while details of the individual(s) can be stored separately.
