| There is an unprecedented
opportunity to cheer your local heroes on tonight as Comhairle nan
Eilean Siar’s Finest take on the Co-Op’s Champions in
a charity football match at Goathill Park kicking off at 7pm.
The game is to raise funds for the Children’s Hospice Association
(CHAS) and will be refereed by Kenny Maciver of BBC Radio nan Gaidheal.
A spokesman for the Comhairle team, who are rumoured to have been
secretly training with a world famous coach from Harris, said: “Hopefully
this will be a game of two halves otherwise Kenny may lose count.
We will be releasing a video of some of the highlights provisionally
called ‘Miss It Like Macleod‘. The team will be signing
autographs - obviously for a price.“
The spokesman denied that talent scouts from all the major clubs
would be present adding: “If there’s any talent around
then it will be easily spotted. The only team these boys have ever
wanted to play for is the Comhairle. It’s about the jersey
and we wear our hearts on our sleeves”.
A Co-Op spokesman said that if it was about the jersey they could
maybe help as they’ve got a brand new soap powder that takes
the toughest stains out.
There will be a half-time penalty competition featuring women sharpshooters
from the Comhairle and the Co-Op. Raffle tickets will be on sale
to raise proceeds for CHAS.
