Construction of the new £6.8m Sports Centre is now well under
way. The steel frame is starting to take shape and this phase of
the building is due to be completed by mid -September. The funding
for the project has come from Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, sportscotland
and Western Isles Enterprise. The sportscotland Lottery Award was
the largest in Scotland in 2002.
Facilities will include:-
- 25m by 13m pool - 50% wider than at present, with a moveable
floor. This will allow the depth of the deep end of the pool to
be adjusted to any depth up to 3.8m.
- Toddler Pool for pre-schoolers, with built in play features.
- Games Hall will be twice the current size.
- Creche and linked Soft Play area.

with a range of the most up to date cardio-vascular and strength
training machines.
- Multi- Sports Hall - suitable for dance, keep fit, martial arts
etc. This is an important element of the project, allowing greater
community access to the facility during the day.
- 2 Squash Courts
- Café
