Councillor Donald Manford, Chairman of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s
Transportation Committee, has called on the Scottish Executive to
directly intervene in the current disagreement between the Caledonian
MacBrayne and the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union.
Cllr. Donald Manford commented:
“The original dispute between Caledonian MacBrayne and RMT
over terms and conditions has now moved to one of lack of trust
between the two parties. It is essential that the progress that
has been made is maintained to date.
“I therefore ask the First Minister and the Minister for
Transport as Shareholders in the company to become directly involved
in a mediating role for the benefit of the Island communities that
Cal-Mac serves.”
