| Comhairle Vindicated By Employment Tribunal |

| An Employment Tribunal has rejected claims of unfair dismissal and breach of contract by a former employee of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar. The Convener of the Comhairle said: “The Comhairle is pleased to note the findings of the tribunal panel which are a vindication of the Comhairle’s position. The Comhairle is also pleased the panel found that all its witnesses were reliable and credible. It should be remembered that the applicant was only one of a number of employees who unfortunately were redundant as a result of the restructuring of the Technical Services DSO/DLO necessitated by the poor financial situation of the organisation. That situation has now been turned around and the current position is that the DSO/DLO provides high quality services and provide local employment whilst offering ‘best value’ to the people of the Western Isles.
