Comhairle Welcomes Resolution in Ferry Dispute

Councillor Donald Manford, Chairman of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Transportation Committee, has welcomed yesterday’s (Wednesday) resolution in negotiation talks between ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne and the Rail, Maritime and Transport Union (RMT).

Cllr Manford commented:

“This is welcomed news: the Comhairle wholly supports the calls from the Unions for a longer term of contract, which should alleviate the otherwise annual possibility of similar disruptive arguments occurring. Yesterday’s developments will be gratefully received by all parties involved after what has been a worrying dispute.”
