| Western Isles Residents
are being asked to outline their vision for the future of the
Western Isles by answering a questionnaire to be delivered to
every household in the Islands.
The Western Isles Community Planning Partnership has launched
a Consultative Draft of the Community Plan. Community Planning
aims to agree a shared vision and goals which will guide the development
of policies and services in the islands.
It is hoped that the Draft Plan will encourage people to participate
in a positive debate about the future of the Western Isles.
The Consultative Draft outlines a vision of where the islands
could be in 2050 in general terms. Once a vision and priorities
have been agreed, a more detailed action plan will be produced.
It is important for the Community Planning process that as many
Western Isles residents as possible are able to get involved in
agreeing a vision and expressing their hopes and fears about the
future of the Islands. To enable this to happen questionnaires
will be distributed to every household within the next few weeks.
The hope is that families, neighbours and local groups will discuss
the ideas in the Plan and return the questionnaires to the Council.
This will be an initial step towards collecting views. The process
will continue throughout the coming year with involvement from
the Partnership at a number of local events. Information gathered
in this way will be used to strengthen next years Plan and to
inform the action plans.
