Rona Womersley has joined the Waste Aware Western Isles Team. Based in Balivanich, Rona will be delivering the Waste Aware Campaign in The Uists and Barra.
Rona was born and brought up in Glasgow but was a regular visitor to Berneray and Harris as a child.
Preferring the island life, Rona came to Benbecula to spend her final year in school in Sgoil Lionacleit before heading back to Glasgow for University. Rona studied Product Design Engineering in Strathclyde University before returning to the Uists to live. She then took on the role of Community Development Officer in Nunton Steadings, Benbecula. Working closely within the community to develop the building as a community centre, she managed a seasonal café and all year round events. Rona is looking forward to working as part of the Waste Aware Western Isles team.
