Comhairle nan Eilean Siar Exceeds Recycling Point Target
05 May 2005

In August 2004, following the award of £25.215 million up until 2020 to Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, the Council in addition to a number of other recycling initiatives, promised to expand its current network of recycling collection points in rural areas to at lease one site per 250 households, in consultation with local communities.

Since January 2005 the Comhairle has increased the number of recycling centres and points from 33 to 49, an increase of 33%, to exceed the target of one site per 250 households to one site to 211 households.

The majority of the Comhairle’s blue recycling banks are managed by a community group who receive a grant through the community recycling initiative each time it’s filled. Please support the Waste Aware Team’s Campaign and your community group by using your local recycling bank.
