Hydrogen Lab Launch
8th May 2006
Waste Aware attended the launch of the Hydrogen Lab at Lews Castle College on 8th May 2006. The Launch was part of the first phase of the Outer Hebrides Hydrogen Strategy to raise awareness within the community of Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies. The Waste Aware Team had a stall promoting the 3Rs, Real Nappies, Composting, various recycled goods and details of the new Waste Management Facilities at the Creed Development Park including a walk round of the new plant.
Various projects involving hydrogen cells were discussed at the launch including the possible use of Hydrogen cells to store the energy obtained from the Creed Anaerobic Digester. The biogas produced from the organic waste in the Anaerobic Digester will be used to generate electrical power whilst the solid digestate will be matured to produce high-quality compost for local use.
