REAL NAPPY WEEK '06
Waste Aware Western Isles celebrated the 10th anniversary of Real Nappy Week by holding three ‘Nappucino and Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ coffee mornings throughout the Western Isles. Parents came to find out more about how real nappies can save money, are convenient to use and waste to landfill.
At each Real Nappy event there was an opportunity for parents to sign up for a free Real Nappy trial pack. In Barra two mothers-to-be signed up for the real nappy pack for the first time after seeing the wide range of real nappies on show for the afternoon. Waste Aware have already sent out 64 Real Nappy Packs since the incentive scheme commenced in December 2005. In Stornoway, Tracy Anne from Brue won the competition for the best dressed teddy in a real nappy. Domhnall Ailean and Angus John from South Uist scooped the prize for the best dressed teddies in Uist. The boys’ parents have always used real nappies and already knew all about the benefits of using them.
Over 80 people attended the Nappucinos in Benbecula, Stornoway and Barra. Waste Aware would like to thank all those who helped with the events and we look forward to Real Nappy Week 2007.
