Top National Award For Sharon Mackinnon

Waste Aware Western Isles Officer Sharon Mackinnon, has won a top national award for her work with local schools, for the second year running.
During April - June 2006, Sharon organised the well known campaign Yellow Woods Challenge throughout the Western Isles, which, again was a great success.
Her efforts have paid off as she has been awarded a certificate for being the top organiser in Scotland, thanks to her outstanding achievements throughout the 2006 Challenge.
Stornoway Primary School were also among the national award winners in this years UK finals, where they received a Highly Commended certificate in the Most Promising Newcomer category.
Sharon stated: “ This is a fantastic outcome from the 2006 Challenge and for me to come top in Scotland is amazing! I am so delighted for Stornoway Primary School and this shows how well schools are getting on with Recycling in our area. I am looking forward to yet another funfilled Challenge in 2007 and hope to get another 100% sign up rate from the Western Isles Schools”.
