Bethesda Hospice and their Siar Glass

Waste Aware Team delivering Siar Glass

The Comhairle were pleased to be able to offer support with the construction of the new extension to Bethesda. A load of Siar Glass was provided free for the final touches to the exterior finish.

The Siar Glass chips are being used to fill in the edges between the pavement and the building, which in turn gives a bright and sparkling contrasting finish and also provides ideal drainage with minimal weeding.

DR MacDonald said, “Bethesda welcomes all donations whether they be financial or otherwise so were delighted to receive Siar Glass from the Comhairle. Bethesda are currently associated with the Comhairle’s efforts to reduce waste by recycling furniture and other household goods.”

Alex Murray Construction said, “We are happy to use this material and we will be looking to use Siar Glass and Siar Grit in future projects.”

The photo shows DR MacDonald looking on as the glass chips are spread around the perimeter path of the new extension, also in the photo are David MacLeod Senior Recycling Officer for CNES, Iain Campbell Waste Aware Co-ordinator and Sharon Mackinnon Community Waste Awareness Officer.
