Renovation Project After several years of fundraising and planning work is progressing well with the renovation of the Centre with construction of a new multifunctional Annex, including facilities for the West Side Football Club. Members of the team are shown below after a recent site meeting (left to right: Ron Murray, builder, David Macleay, Bill Hendry, Angus Macleod and Stuart Bagshaw).

The foundations have been laid. The floor of the old hall has been lifted for installation of underfloor heating and some internal walls have been demolished to enlarge the kitchen and allow construction of disabled toilet facilities. The work is being done in tandem with West Side Football and Recreation club who will use the changing facilities for the recently constructed football pitch at the rear of the Centre.

The area was again successful in attracting funding from the Scottish Executive, CnES and Ward Initiative to allow community groups to use a minibus for various activities.

The Community Council oversees the administration and buy-in of the service which offers Croileagan, Playgroup, Clann an Latha an De and Youth Clubs runs as well as Post Office, shop and surgery trips.

The provision of a disabled minibus for the area was deemed essential in offering an all inclusive service and is provided by Angus Mackenzie from Carloway.

The service started in April 2006 and is to continue until March 2008.
