Aird Mhor - 22 December 2001
Major steps towards completion of the Aird Mhor ferry terminal have been taken in the weeks between December 8 and December 22, prior to the end-of-year break.
The breakwater core and armouring is now complete as is the slipway concreting. Meanwhile the filling of embankments in the approach road is nearing completion while the excavation of the services trench and the
drainage ditch continues.
Continuing work also includes that on the timber alignment / berthing structure where 6 of 14 concrete bases have been poured, and on the timber alignment structure itself.
The temporary bund in which the temporary sheet piles were placed, has been excavated and used to form an access platform to construct the timber alignment / berthing structure beyond the end of the slipway
There were four tracked excavators and two articulated dump trucks on site.
