Work on Timber Alignment / Berthing Structure
The number of people employed on the construction and finishing work at Aird Mhor on Barra has risen sharply as the work on the roadway gathers pace. By January 26, there were 25 people employed on the project (of whom 10 are resident in the Western Isles).
The progress on the ferry terminal and access road includes:
- Filling embankments in the approach road and marshalling area is nearing completion.
- Services trench in the south verge complete. Services in the service trench are BT cable, water pipe, and HV cable
- For the Timber Alignment / Berthing Structure: 9 of 14 concrete bases poured and 9 of 14 piles put in and prefabbing of the rest continues.
- Reinstatement of the rock source continues
