Parapet walls
Work on quarrying and excavation for the Causeway is closer to completion, after the work done in the week to March 3.
Causeway
- Rock armouring : nearing 80 per cent complete
- Parapet wall 370m on west side and 210m on the east, 17 per cent complete
- Total rock placed : 621,000 tonnes : about 89 per cent of final quantity
- Core raised south of bridge to 1m (average) below finished level

North span precast beams placed, shuttering and reinforcement fixing has commenced.
Eriskay Approach Road
- Rock excavation - 98 per cent complete - blasting completed
- Cutting completed through to Eriskay road junction
Weather: Wintry showers all week; blizzard conditions on Monday with northerly winds; Temperatures below freezing at times.
Personnel: 57 total employed on site (including 2 CnES) - 60 per cent resident in the Western Isles.
