Cutting and causeway
The significant figures - 100 per cent - appear in the data for the week ending June 9 as work on the Causeway sweeps towards a conclusion.
A final total of 700,000 tonnes of rock has been removed from the Glendale quarry and from the Eriskay cutting and placed to form the causeway.
Reinstatement is now continuing at the quarry to restore the site.
Causeway
- Rock armouring to core substantially complete
- Stone parapet walls substantially complete
- Total rock placed : 700,000 tonnes : 100 per cent of final quantity
Bridge
Road and Services
- Road formation and roadbase over 90 per cent complete
- Road bituminous surfacing begun - basecourse over 45 per cent complete
- Road construction over 40 per cent complete
- Services installations over 80 per cent complete
- Reinstatement works continuing
Weather: mild, sunny spells, prolonged showery periods
Personnel: 55 total employed on site (including 2 CnES), 67 per cent resident in the Western Isles
Completion Programme
