The first anniversary of the start to work on the Causeway passed during the week ending May 12.
Causeway
- Rock armouring to core continuing : over 97 per cent complete
- Stone parapet walls continuing both sides north of bridge : over 2600m complete, 78 per cent
- Total rock placed : almost 690,000 tonnes : over 98 per cent of final quantity
Bridge
Diversion fill removal 95 per cent complete - rock armouring in progress.
Bridge section
Uist Quarry
Drilling, blasting & excavating rock - 99 per cent complete.
Road and Services
- Road formation and roadbase construction begun
- Water main 60 per cent
- Electricity cable 50 per cent
- Reinstatement works continuing
Weather: Mostly fine
Personnel: 54 total employed on site (including 2 CnES), 60% resident in the Western Isles.
