The first progress report of the New Year on the Causeway showed that progress to 13th January amounted to :
Rock armouring to core: in progress - 55 per cent complete.
Total rock placed: 550,000 tonnes - over 75 per cent of final quantity.
Uist Quarry: Drilling, blasting & excavating rock over 75 per cent complete.
Bridge: Preparation for pile-cap construction in progress
Abutments: North abutment concreted. Rock armouring of south abutment in progress.
Eriskay Approach Road: Road cut at 600m inland from shore (of 650m) rock excavation over 90 per cent complete.
Weather: fine, cold all week.
Personnel: 51 total employed on site (including 2 CnES) - 61 per cent resident in the Western Isles
