On the Eriskay side - Progress on the work up to August 14 meant that on the Eriskay side the core extended to 500 metres from the shore at an average of three metres below the final planned height. So far a total of 95,000 tonnes of rock has been placed, extracted from Eriskay where the rock cut is through the first hill below the church.

On the Uist side - On the Uist side the causeway core has advanced by 440 metres at an average two metres below final planned height and rock armouring to core continued in progress. In all 125,000 tonnes of rock has been placed, extracted from the new quarry.

At Ceann a Gharaidh - At the Eriskay ferry terminal at Ceann a Gharaidh, workers are preparing for the first blast in the marshalling area.
