View of causeway
Work on the bridge section of the causeway was almost complete in the week up March 17. Meanwhile rock armouring of the causeway was almost complete as well and workers were preparing to remove the thousands of tonnes of rock put in the Sound of Eriskay to provide the temporary causeway bypass of the bridge site while work continued.
Causeway
- Rock armouring to core in progress : over 85 per cent complete
- Stone parapet walls continuing both sides from Eriskay : 1130m complete, 34 per cent
- Total rock placed : 635,000 tonnes : over 90 per cent of final quantity
Bridge section
Bridge
- Structural concrete completed
- Parapet concrete walls completed
- Opening of bridge to construction traffic planned for 23rd March
- Diversion fill removal planned to start 23rd March
Uist Quarry
Drilling, blasting & excavating rock over 85 per cent complete
Eriskay Approach Road
- Services trench excavation in progress
- Reinstatement works in progress

Personnel: 51 total employed on site (including 2 CNES), 67% resident in the Western Isles.
