Work under way
Work is under way on both sides of the strait on the construction of the approach roads.
The initial blasting was very successful. Rock from the cutting being made on Eriskay itself will be used to push north from the Island across the channel at the same time as rock from the new quarry being created near the northern landing of the causeway is being tipped into the gap from the other side.
At present there are 12 people employed on the project.
