Cutting and causeway
With work on the main causeway structure almost completed, reinstatement work on the Uist quarry began in the week up to May 26 in line with the commitments to environmental restoration which were determined at the start of the project. Signs of continued progress included:
Causeway
- Rock armouring to core continuing : 99.5 per cent complete
- Stone parapet walls continuing both sides north of bridge : over 3000m complete, 93 per cent
- Total rock placed : 697,000 tonnes : 99.6 per cent of final quantity

Rock extraction for causeway completed - reinstatement begun
Road and Services
- Road formation and roadbase construction continuing
- Water main 75 per cent, electricity cable 65 per cent
- Reinstatement works continuing
Weather: mostly dry and sunny; windy with showers at the end of the week
Personnel: 55 total employed on site (including 2 CnES), 60 per cent resident in the Western Isles
